Next General Meeting TBA

Thank you to Debra Ortiz for her passionate talk about the state of women’s, men’s, and children’s health and welfare issues. Discussing how those that have the most to lose are also those with the least political clout in society, women and the poor. They are threatened in the current political tug-a-war in Washington. The information of what is at stake is more than just dollars in budgets, but one of ideologies. They are using funding for key programs benefitting those same disadvantage sectors of our society to railroad their support of the richest sectors, further deepening the gap of living standards and access to basic human needs.  The aggressiveness to assert their platforms of budget reform, being on all or nothing terms, is not beneficial to those that should be helped the most. It is a winner take all mentality with no room for sharing, no matter who suffers. This need for basic services is only growing  as the economy has sunk over the past few years with recovery eeking its way back. It was both informative and alarming. Thank you also to members of the board who put this event together and thank you to our  member and guest attendees.

Our January 10, 2011 General Meeting

The election of officers for 2011 was done at the January General Meeting. They new board can be found here under the page listed for contacts. Congratulations and thank you to everyone who attended the meeting and who committed to serve on the board for this coming year.

It was recommended and agreed to at the first board meeting of the year on January 24, 2011, that our General Meetings will be held quarterly instead of monthly. This allows those all of us who have a multitude of commitments between work and family to still be an active part of this group’s focus moving forward with our sites on elections in 2012. The gift of time is something appreciated by this organization and we know how precious that time is for everyone. Making the general meetings less frequent, but still interesting and exciting is our hope in growing this organization. The board has committed to making the best of everyone’s time and efforts for all our events in the coming year.

The menu from Good Eats is available here. Dinner is $15

Please RSVP by Friday, January 7, 2011

Our November General Meeting

We had our first meeting at the Good Eats Restaurant in midtown on Monday, November 29th. The food was great, the conversation stimulating, and all had interest in what we can do together going forward for 2011. Many attendees shared their concern over what we can do in our communities to improve women’s participation in government in all areas.

The next General meeting of Sacramento NWPC is tenatively scheduled for January 10, 2011, where we will hold elections for Officers for 2011. If you are interested in knowing more about this local caucus, please come to a General meeting, which are always open to all who are interested in women’s issues. Please check out this site for confirmation of our next meeting location and RSVP contact. More information to follow!

Our First Fundraiser Was A Success!,

Sunday, April 10, 2010:

The Sacramento National Political Women’s Caucus (NWPC) had a wonderful evening of great food, fabulous art and intriguing conversation. Attendees savored light appetizers and an open bar at the Fox and Goose while mingling with elected women representatives, women running for office and other like-minded individuals. Our special guest, the dynamic and inspiring NWPC member Delaine Eastin was very informative. This fundraiser was in conjunction with the NWPCCA State Board meeting that was held last weekend at the Citizen Hotel.
